Moritz studied Medicine at the Heidelberg University , Germany and received his Doctor of Medicine (Dr. med.). Since 2014, he received his surgical training at the Department for General, Visceral & Transplantation Surgery (Head: Professor M. Büchler, MD) of the Heidelberg University. From the start, Moritz was additionally trained in translational science and cellular physiology at the lab of Professor Martin Schneider (Head of the former clinical research unit KFO227, DFG). In 2022, he obtained his PhD from UCD School of Medicine at the Taylor Lab in Dublin. He is now an Attending Surgeon establishing his Emmy Noether Group in Gießen, Germany.
Chris is analyzing the effects of metabolic surgery on hepatic fibrosis. He is currently funded within the JLU CAREER scheme of the DFG.

MD student determining the prognostic relevance and metabolic profile of TAMs in CRC.
MD candidate interested in the significance of anastomotic leakage in patient with CRC.
MD student detecting the effect of oxygen and carbon dioxide during healing of intestinal anastomoses.
